ENJOY YOUR VISIT
#WhoIsLucy?
In light of our country’s 250th anniversary, we think people deserve to know all about its history- even the dark and uncomfortable parts. So, we made Enjoy Your Visit.
Inspired by real people, Enjoy Your Visit tells the story of Kara, a trained actress, who steps into the role of an enslaved housemaid at the historic home of George and Martha Washington. But when she uncovers the harrowing fate of the real woman she’s playing, she decides it’s time to go off script.
In recent times, the government has attempted to erase stories like these. This film exists to remind people of the unsanitized truth of our country’s past. It’s ok to acknowledge the wrongs that were done by ancestors so that we don’t repeat them today. Let’s not shy away from it.
Instead, on this 250th anniversary of our great country, let’s uplift Truth and strive towards Hope, Unity, and Humanity. In African culture, sankofa represents the need to look to the past in order to make positive progress in the present and future. It’s a practice that we, the people of these United States, should embrace. We’re only here on this earth for a short amount of time; why not choose to Enjoy Your Visit?
